Jen Vargas is a seasoned executive with 20 years of experience leading strategic communications for global brands and businesses through critical moments including acquisitions and mergers, divestitures, global expansion, crisis, shareholder and consumer activism, and leadership and organizational change. A recognized partner in the C-suite and among key internal and external stakeholders, Jen’s strength is establishing communications plans and processes that support corporate goals and deliver results.
Prior to launching JVComms, Jen was Vice President, Corporate Communications for Hudson’s Bay Company, the diversified global all-channel retailer that owns banners including Saks Fifth Avenue, Hudson’s Bay, Lord & Taylor, Gilt (which has since been divested), Galeria Kaufhof and Galerina INNO. She has also served as Senior Vice President, Corporate and External Communications at the global communications agency Ketchum, and as head of corporate communications for Avon Products, Inc., where she spent nearly a decade leading corporate PR and communications.
Jen began her career in the financial sector, first in marketing and communications at IBJ Whitehall Financial Group (formerly J. Henry Schroeder Bank & Trust), and then at Moody’s, the credit risk assessment and rating agency, where she advanced through a series of communications roles with increasing scope and responsibility over seven years.
Jen holds an MBA with a dual concentration in Finance and Communications from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, and a BS in Public Relations from Syracuse University’s SI Newhouse School of Public Communications.
